IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Christopher Kevin
Bumphus
April 19, 1961 – November 7, 2025
Christopher Kevin Bumphus (Uncle Buck)
Christopher Kevin Bumphus was born in Hardin County on April 19,1961 to Peggy Sue Bumphus.
Chris, also lovingly known as Uncle Buck to his nieces and nephews, was described as larger than life. He was most notably known for his contagious smile, strong work ethic, dad jokes, and for being someone who spoke the truth. Making fun of every situation, yet he always knew when to be serious. He spent a lifetime loving and caring for all of his family.
Chris was raised in Clifton, TN where he attended Frank Hughes school until he graduated in 1981. His strong work ethic began at the early age of five, when he began working in lawn care with his grandfather, Tom Bumphus. During his high school years he worked at Kelly’s Food Market while also playing baseball and basketball. After graduating he went on to work construction for a short period of time before the birth of his first two children, Christy and Kevin. From there he served as a police officer before being hired in 1983 at Packaging Cooperation of America. Where he also became a member of the Steel Workers Union. During his career there he worked in shipping, the wood yard, and ended as an oiler in maintenance. In November 2024, he retired from PCA after 40 years of dedicated service.
In June of 1998, Chris married his loving wife, Tammy Lamberson. In this union they had one son, Blair, who was born in 2001. Chris and Tammy spent 27 loving and devoted years together. Chris found joy in his grandchildren, cooking (Big Mudger’s Catering and BBQ), watching Steelers football, and watching westerns, like Gunsmoke. Chris departed this earthly life on Friday, November 07, 2025 at Baptist Desoto in Southaven, MS.
Chris leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Tammy Bumphus; two sons, Christopher (Jessica) Bumphus II of Savannah, TN and Blair (Morgan) Bumphus of Tupelo, MS; four grandchildren, Aaliyah, Alexa, Alivia and Christopher Kevin Bumphus III of Savannah, TN; five siblings, Vivian Bumphus of Clifton, TN, Vanessa Bumphus of Selmer, TN, Jerrold Bumphus of Murfreesboro, TN, Janice Bumphus of Lebanon, TN, and Alicia (Kelly) Bumphus of Dyer, TN; thirty-one nieces and nephews; forty-seven great nieces and nephews, three great great nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.
Chris was proceeded in death by: his daughter, Christy Bumphus Mack; his grandparents, Tom and Evanna Bumphus; his mother, Peggy Bumphus; and two sisters, Linda Bumphus and Betty McClain.
