James Edward Thompson was born on Wednesday, March 19, 1952 in Savannah, TN. He was the son of the late Henderson Richard Thompson and Geneva Ross Flournoy Thompson. James departed this life on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at the age of 71 in Savannah, TN.

James (Sonny) was an avid outdoorsman and loved being outside. He liked being around all sorts of animals. James loved spending time with his grandchildren more than anything.

He was preceded in death by one son, Richard Thompson.

James leaves to cherish his memory:  a son, William Edward Thompson of New Orleans, LA.; a brother, Donnie Lane (Barbara)Thompson of LaGrange, GA.; two sisters, Genice Williams and Shirley Thompson of Savannah, TN.; three grandchildren, Chrisette, Tyler, and Riley Thompson of New Orleans, LA.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.
