Mary Ann King Mathis was born Monday, March 04, 1935 in McNairy County TN to Viola and Hubert King. Mary Ann departed this life at 88 years and 11 days old on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 in Duson, Louisiana with her daughters by her side.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister who loved spending time with her babies. She was known to most as Nanny Mary. Her favorite pastime was sewing, quilting, and spending as much time as she could with her grandbabies. She loved to cook them her famous chocolate gravy and biscuits.

She's survived by two daughters: Anita Roland, and Lisa (Randy)Hickman of Selmer, TN; three grandchildren, Andy Ellsworth of Selmer, TN, Blake Spain of Booneville, MS, and Amber Hickman(Andre) of Duson, Louisiana; six great grandchildren, Brooklyn Ellsworth, Alyssa Ellsworth, Cadence Morris, Lily Ellsworth, Kinsley Funderburk, and Ella-Kate Funderburk; three brothers, Bill(Norma Jean) King, John(Linda) King, and Roger King; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by:  her parents, Viola and Hubert King; her sisters, Nina Mae King-Jenkins and Margaret Whitley; a grandchild, Ami Lambert of Belmont, MS; and a great grandchild, Hunter Ellsworth of Selmer, TN.
