Obituary

On Sunday, August 03, 1952 Robert Earl Brown was born to the late Lee and Mary Nell Brown of Selmer, TN.  In my early childhood years I attended Old McNairy County School and then to McNairy Central High School.

As a teenager I took a leap of faith and began to help my mother and father with my brothers and sisters.  Later on in life I started working various jobs in McNairy County.  I worked at Selmer Classic Cars where I was self-employed for many years washing and detailing cars.  During my five year experience with cancer I began to work with my brother mowing and cleaning up yards as, “Brown Brothers Lawn Service” while continuing to detail cars for Selmer Classic Cars until my health would not allow me to continue.  My hobbies were washing cars, mowing yards, and spending time with my family and friends. I also enjoyed taking my granddaughter, Ja’Liyah shopping at Wal-Mart® and doing some shopping for myself.

God saw that I was getting weary on this journey and called me to my heavenly home early in the morning on Saturday, December 03, 2022.  I was also preceded in death by;  two brothers, Vernord and Stanley Brown; two of my grandchildren, Jaylan and Ja’Nese Phinnessee; two nieces, Debbie Love and Marsha Nell Brown; and both paternal and maternal grandparents.

I leave to cherish my memory: my son, Delbert Colburn of Fulton, MS; my daughter, Brittany Brown of Bethel Springs, TN; my grandson, Artavius Colburn of Tupelo, MS; my granddaughters, De’Adria Colburn of Fulton, MS and Ja’Liyah Phinnessee of Bethel Springs, TN; my brothers, Johnny (Diane) Brown of Selmer, TN, Anthony Brown of Bethel Springs, TN, and Scott Brown of Selmer, TN; my sisters, Beverly Taylor of Selmer, TN, Regina Brown of Medon, TN, and Shelia Brown of Selmer, TN; my uncles, Joe Neal (Gloria Faye) Surratt of Chicago, IL and Talmadge (Peggy) Surratt of Selmer, TN; my aunt, Noami Watts of Chicago, IL; my nieces and nephews, Durianna Brown of Paducah, KY, Pam (Taurus) Davis of Purdy, TN, Anthony (Dwala) Smith of Cincinnati, OH, Donya (Matthew) Paritz of Franklin, TN, Cherlyn Pollard of Bethel Springs, TN, David Brown, Chip Taylor, Carla Brown, Candy Taylor all of Selmer, TN, Michael (Emma) Taylar of Corbin, KY, Kayla (Joe) Nelson, Kaiesha Brown of Selmer, TN, Trey Damron of Adamsville, TN; thirty and counting, great nieces and nephews.

To the love of my life, Teresia Brown for who I would do anything, my granddaughter, Ja’Liyah Phinnessee, and my favorite niece, Makiyah Brown, I loved each of you dearly.

To my sisters and brothers from another mother, Joinna Dubose of Bethel Springs, Dwight (Yolanda) Brown of Bethel Springs, and Mose (Barbara) Goffner of Evansville, IN, and Gary Neal Nichols of Selmer, TN.

Now that I am gone don’t cry for me, cause I lived every day to the fullest; cooking, laughing, and enjoying life. I shared a lot of unforgettable moments with my brothers, sisters, family, and friends, remember me and those good times forever.

Love Always, Robert Brown
