Mr. Arbie D. Baxter was born in Ramer, TN on Monday, March 10, 1930 to the late Phillip Moore Baxter and Stella Amos. He departed this life on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Arbie D. was united in marriage to the late Rebecca Baxter, and to this union four children were born. Later in life he married Regina Brumley and to this union one child was born and he gained another son. He was a member of the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church for several years. Arbie later moved his membership to the Cypress Creek First Baptist Church where he served until his passing. He served two years in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953.
Arbie D. worked several years loading cross ties for Moss Tie Company and was also self employed. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, was a member of Crescent Lodge # 70, a Shriner, member of the local NAACP chapter and McNairy County High School Alumni Association, and a proud member of the Democratic Party who never missed an opportunity to exercise his right to vote.
He was preceded in death by: three brothers, Willis, Willie T., and Garfield Baxter; one sister, Polly Baxter; a daughter, Teresa Barnes; a son, David Baxter and a step-son Rodney Brown.
Arbie D. leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters, Sherron and Rosa Baxter; a son, Moses Baxter; a step-son, Clifford Wynn; a special niece, Betty Copeland; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and lots of great friends.
