Mrs. Lois Marie Burns was born the oldest of twelve children to the late Willard Doley, Sr. and Amie Lois (Brown) Surratt, on Tuesday, November 02, 1943.
She was united in Holy Matrimony on February 08, 1969 to Charles E. Burns and to this union two children were born.
She graduated from McNairy County High School in Selmer, TN in 1964. She was then employed with Brown Shoe Company in (Selmer, TN) for a few years until they closed. Afterwards she worked in (Corinth, MS) at W.F. Hall Printing Company where they made catalogs, encyclopedias, and the National Geographic magazine. She briefly sold Mary Kay cosmetics prior to her employment at Hendrix's "Henco" Fundraising Company, located in (Selmer, TN) She was a line supervisor at Action Apparel in (Ramer, TN) until she became disabled.
As a young adult she was taught the Gospel and was baptized into Christ at the Cypress Creek Church of Christ, currently known as Forrest Hill Church of Christ. She was a devoted wife and mother. She loved spending time with her children, her husband, as well as others teaching them the Gospel and leading them to Christ. She served the Lord faithfully for many years until her health failed her.
She had many hobbies such as canning, cooking, decorating, fishing, gardening, painting, sewing, and quilting. Her favorite family entertainment was celebrating birthdays, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
Lois Marie departed this life on Sunday, March 13, 2022 in Plano, TX. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Charles E. Burns, Sr.; two brothers, Billy Lee and Jeffery Surratt.
Mrs. Burns leaves to cherish her memory: a son, Charles E. Burns, Jr. (Christa Meek); a daughter, Anquita Michelle Burns; a daughter in law, Starla Burns; a grandson, Chase E. Burns; an aunt, Naomi Watts, her siblings, W.J. Surratt, Jr., Jerry Lee Surratt, John Wayne Surratt, Lela Frances Askew, Claud Della Stackens (Jerry), Pamela McClarin, Ruthie Amos Taylor (Larry), Randall Surratt, Cathy Jackson, and Carolyn Surratt Floyd (Gerald); a brother-in-law, Harold Burns (Linda); a sister-in-law, Martha Burns; her dog, Gracie; her cat, Tom Tom; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
