Phyllis Yvonne Kendall was born on November 18, 1961, in San Luis Obispo, CA to SSGT Richard D. Kendall (retired USAF) and Juanita C (Luton) Kendall. On September 10, 2023, Phyllis Yvonne Kendall passed away at the age of 61 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Phyllis received a B.S. Degree in Mathematics/Computer Science from Memphis State University (currently known as University of Memphis), a M.A. Degree in Information Resource Management from Webster University and an A.A.S. Culinary Arts Degree from The Art Institute of Phoenix. Major Phyllis Y. Kendall retired from the United States Air Force in 2003 after 20 years of service. While in the military she served in various information technology positions ranging from maintenance programming on the black box for the SR-71 to developing information security solutions for the North American Aerospace Defense Command.
Phyllis loved to travel and engage in new experiences. She was a certified personal trainer and fitness instructor in Virginia, a caterer in Arizona, and a records clerk for the police department in Missouri. She finally settled down in 2011 to begin working for the State of Indiana. She remained a fixture with the Department of Revenue and a true management professional with a Six Sigma Green Belt. Phyllis was an active member of the Eastern Star Church where she served with the Barnabas, Communications, and Servants in Action ministries at various times.
Phyllis is preceded in death: by her parents, Richard “R.D” and Juanita Kendall; and a brother, Anthony.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her brother, Patrick (Carolyn) Kendall; nephews, Jalen Kendall and Titus Kendall; a niece, Tanika (Earl) Steele; an uncle, Luther W. (Nancy) Luton; two great nieces; and a host of cousins and friends who will miss her dearly.
